As an inpatient at Lea Regional Medical Center you can rely on the fact that our pharmacy will work diligently to make sure you have all the medications you need. Our experienced pharmacists and technicians will keep a close eye on your regular meds, along with any new prescriptions you may receive, and will help the nursing staff to make sure you get the right dose at the right time.
We've also implemented barcode medication administration, a process that serves as an extra layer of safety for medications. Your nurse will scan your ID bracelet and then scan the medication. The computer will make sure that the dosage you are getting is correct, that there are no interactions with other medications, and that the medicine you're being given is appropriate for your condition. Doctors, nurses, and pharmacists all still look at these things as well, but barcode medication administration further reduces the chance for a medication error.
