Reception Committee

The Reception Committee is staffed Monday-Friday,  9 a.m.-12 p.m.; 1 - 4 p.m.

The receptionist works at both the Inpatient and Outpatient Surgery entrances, and must be able to use the computer to look up a patient's name and room number as well as check emails that are sent to patients.  We use the Courtesy Cards to write the room number on, for each request.  The Receptionist needs to learn about the hospital as there are lots of questions by visitors.

The morning shift makes out a list of new babies and any children up to age 12 for the Hospitality volunteers to take gifts on their rounds.  These are recorded in the red book.  The gift stickers are stored in there also.
You need to register anyone in the waiting area who has family going into surgery.  When the surgery is over they will call the desk and ask for you to send the family to the consultation room.  They will also call later when the patient has been taken back up to their room, so that you can inform their family.  You have several extension numbers that you can call for information on the patient during the surgery.
