The staff physical therapist organizes and conducts a medically prescribed physical therapy program in the hospital to restore function, prevent disability following disease, injury, or loss of a body part, and to help the patient reach his maximum functional capabilities and assume a place in society while learning to live within the limits of these capabilities. Evaluates patient needs and functional problems, sets goals, and sets up a treatment plan for patient care to progress toward goals set. Delegate assistance with patient care to technicians and/or aides. Supervises and co-signs for patient treatment performed by Physical Therapy Students. Ensures technicians and/or P.T. Aides are trained prior to delegating tasks.
